R-U152 > FGC4166 presence in the Corca Laidhe region of influence
A number of men named COLLINS carrying these mutations have ancestry from West Cork. There are known clusters in Drimoleague, which are closely related to Collinses in Knockgorm (Caheragh), but they are also spread eastwards into Dunmanway and and in Desert, and into Skibbereen in Creagh, Tullagh, and Castlehaven parishes.
The ancestral SNP, R-U152, has been called "Alpine Celtic." Could the ancestor of these Collinses have come to Ireland from Celtic Central Europe, looking for deposits of copper and other precious metals to mine? We don't have enough information to know one way or the other. The only thing we do know, from the Collins project, is that these Collinses had time to scatter around County Cork.
