Ó CAINGNE (Cagney). We wonder if Ocaygny in The Calender of Justiciary Rolls (1308-1314) is O Caingne. Robert Ocaygny was charged in Meath in 1311 with stealing 18 sheep from le Waleys of Grilly and Nicholas Okenedy, and that he procured Gillekegh Orailly to engage in a bit of arson.

Ó DUBHÁIN (Kidney). The Hook surname comes from the same root as the Kidney surname, who are often recorded in old records as Duwane or Duane (Ó Dubháin). Apparently an old Irish word for fish hook is 'duán'. The Hook Head Lighthouse in County Wexford is named for a missionary to County Wexford named Dubhán. The beacon was established in the 5th century. According to one historian, St. Dubhán came from Wales. He established a church (Cill Dubhán) in Galway. Place names with -duane in Waterford and Limerick could be a sign of his influence. Dubhán and Hook Head Lighthouse are also in Wikipedia.
